What is IPL?
IPL is a non-invasive form of light therapy that helps treat common signs of aging all while stimulating collagen and elastin.
What are the skin concerns that can be treated IPL?
At NuYou MedSpa we use Stellar ™ IPL technology which can treat the following skin concerns:
* Hyperpigmentation
* Age Spots
* Brown and Red Spots
* Melasma
* Sun Damage
* Spider veins
* Unwanted Dark Hairs
* Rosacea
* Acne
* Promote collagen and elastin
What can I expect?
Our Trained medical staff will determine if you are a candidate for this procedure with a brief consultation. Note: some skin types cannot have this treatment performed due to issues with medical history, medications contraindications and other variables.
If it is determined that you are a candidate for this treatment you will have cool gel placed on the treatment areas and our staff will place the hand piece on your skin and guide it methodically with selected filters to target each specific skin concern.
The light energy treats hemoglobin (red pigment) and melanin (brown pigment) by causing these cell types to over heat. In addition to treating discoloration of the skin, specific filters can be utilized to treat vascular issue, active acne, and darkly pigmented unwanted hair.
Does it Hurt?
Discomfort with IPL treatments is minimal. The discomfort if often described as a snap of a rubber band against the skin with some warmth afterward.
At NuYou MedSpa we prioritize patient comfort and utilize topical numbing agents as well as self administered nitrous oxide (Pro-Nox™).
Is there "down time"?
You may experience redness or mild swelling immediately afterward, however this typically resolves within a few hours. Any brown pigmented lesions (age spots, freckles etc) will turn darker before falling off or fading, and some small bruising may appear after extensive treatment of broken capillaries. You should be able to continue your daily activities directly after your appointment with the exception of sun exposure.
When will I see results?
You will notice a significant improvement in overall tone after 1-2 treatments, especially when more superficial pigment is targeted. A series of 3-6 treatments can be done spaced 3-6 weeks apart will give you optimal overall improvement in texture and tone. With adequate sun protection your IPL results will be long lasting. On going maintenance may be performed once every 6-12 months as needed or even more frequently for continued firming and rejuvenation.
